EOS – The Entrepreneurial Operating System

REAL WORLD RESULTS: WHY WE BELIEVE IN EOS®

Thousands of companies have used EOS® to generate powerful results. They have achieved more revenue, growth, and profit while experiencing a better balance of life for their business owners and leaders.

EOS®, the Entrepreneurial Operating System® from the book Traction®, combines timeless business principles with a set of simple, practical, real-world tools to help entrepreneurs get what they want from their business. The EOS® Team at ActionCOACH of Elm Grove offers comprehensive training and support to business owners & leadership teams who want to implement EOS® to achieve what we call VTH:

  1. VISION, by first getting your leaders 100% on the same page with where your organization is going and how it is going to get there.
  2. TRACTION®, helping your leaders to become more disciplined and accountable, executing really well to achieve every part of your vision.
  3. HEALTHY, helping your leaders to become a healthy, functional, cohesive leadership team because unfortunately, leaders often don’t function well as a team.

From there, as goes your leadership team, so goes the rest of the organization. We help you get to the point where your entire organization is crystal clear on your vision, all much more disciplined and accountable in executing your vision, gaining consistent traction, and advancing as a healthy, functional, cohesive team.

The EOS Model™

The EOS Model™ provides a visual illustration of the Six Key Components™ of any business that must be managed and strengthened to be a great business.

This model applies to big and small businesses alike, in any industry.

The Six Key Components™ of Any Business

  • Vision. Strengthening this component means getting everyone in the organization 100 percent on the same page with where you’re going and how you’re going to get there.
  • People. Simply put, we can’t do it without great people. This means surrounding yourself with great people, top to bottom because you can’t achieve a great vision without a great team.
  • Data. This means cutting through all the feelings, personalities, opinions and egos and boiling your organization down to a handful of objective numbers that give you an absolute pulse on where things are.
  • With the Vision, People, and Data Components strong, you start to create a lucid, transparent, open and honest organization where everything becomes more visible and you start to “smoke out all the issues,” which leads to…
  • Issues. Strengthening this component means becoming great at solving problems throughout the organization – setting them up, knocking them down and making them go away forever.
  • Process. This is the secret ingredient in your organization. This means “systemizing” your business by identifying and documenting the core processes that define the way to run your business. You’ll need to get everyone on the same page with what the essential procedural steps are, and then get everyone to follow them to create consistency and scalability in your organization.
  • Traction®. This means bringing discipline and accountability into the organization – becoming great at execution – taking the vision down to the ground and making it real.

Jim Palzewicz – Founding Partner & Certified EOS Implementer™

I became an “accidental entrepreneur” in 1983 (two years out of college) when the computer company I was selling for went out of business. I began supporting our abandoned customers, and realized that I had started a computer consulting business! I couldn’t find anyone to teach me how to scale the business, and after a few years, I had to walk away from what I truly believe could have been a gold mine.

In 2004 I discovered ActionCOACH Business Coaching and learned why my first business floundered. I founded the Milwaukee ActionCOACH firm to teach business owners how to create more successful, profitable and sustainable businesses. Since 2004, we have grown to be the #1 ActionCOACH firm in North America, helping hundreds of business owners in Southeastern Wisconsin to build better businesses.

We believe that entrepreneurial businesses are the job creation engine in our economy. Our purpose is to make a real difference in our communities, by growing businesses to create quality jobs.

The EOS Process™ and EOS Model™ are what we use for growing entrepreneurial management teams. So far, we’ve helped over 60 Milwaukee-area businesses (and counting) to successfully implement EOS.

Rick Appleby – EOS Implementer™

My 30 years of experience in C-Level Leadership roles within Fortune 100 & 500 companies such as HP, Compaq, and Foxconn/HonHai Industries has prepared me to do what I truly love – help entrepreneurial leadership teams build a great business. I developed an understanding and appreciation of the criticality of well-executed strategic planning. I have also seen strategic planning fail to achieve its objectives due to excessive complexity and a lack of buy-in and commitment of the organization.

With the EOS Process™, Gino Wickman has developed a simple yet effective approach which delivers predictable and consistent results to clarify vision, increase traction and improve team health.

We have facilitated the successful implementation of EOS® in over 60 companies in SE Wisconsin. We are also building a powerful community of EOS clients, committed to growth and achieving their business goals and dreams.

By: Jim Palzewicz

As the world’s #1 Business Accelerator firm, all of us at ActionCOACH of Elm Grove have had the privilege since 2004 of helping over 1,000 entrepreneurs to get everything they want from their business. More money, more time, a better team, achieving their personal life goals through their business – it’s been a remarkable ride, and we thank you for allowing us to be your business growth partner. Looking back, it reaffirms a discovery we made which led to the creation of our firm. That discovery is this: there is indeed a system to grow any business, and when the leader commits and implements this system, profitable growth is the result.

The problem is, many entrepreneurs believe that they need to create their own system. So, in the midst of managing their business and firefighting the 136 things that are burning at any given time, they also try to invent a management system for their business. An idea from this book, another from that great webinar, a tool from that conference…no wonder the team is left wondering, “What’s the new flavor-of-the-month?”

In 2010, the book Traction® by Gino Wickman popped up on our radar. Recommended to me by a client, Traction® impressed me with its simple yet powerful system called EOS® – the Entrepreneurial Operating System®. EOS is designed as a complete management system to help an entrepreneurial leadership team grow a business to fulfill their purpose.

Since 2010, we have helped over 60 Wisconsin businesses to implement EOS with amazing results. As I look at our client list, I’m impressed that most of them are recognized as the leader in their markets, as well as in their industry. They are open-minded, growth-oriented, frustrated by complacency, have a big vision, and know they need help to get there.

They are sharing Traction® and EOS® with their peers. Traction® has indeed gone viral (if you haven’t been given a copy yet by a fellow CEO, contact me to get your free copy). As the only Implementer firm in Wisconsin for EOS, we are committed to building a community of EOS-run companies to help you get everything you want from your business.

Our quarterly EClub is our EOS Mastery Community. If you’re the Visionary or Integrator™ of a company running EOS, you’re invited to attend this half-day session to connect with and learn from other Visionaries and Integrators™ from companies implementing EOS and sharpen the saw with our EOS Implementation team – Jim Palzewicz and Rick Appleby. If you’re currently using EOS in your business, contact Jim Palzewicz at jimpalzewicz@actioncoach.com or (262) 790-1213 to get on the invite list. Participation is complimentary, as the day is sponsored by service providers who are using or appreciate EOS as the simplest, most powerful business management system for entrepreneurial leadership teams.

Yours in Abundance,

Testimonials

  • On Tuesday, January 8, I was able to spend a couple of hours with members of the New Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Coach Mike Thompson, who presented a seminar, "Leadership's Impact on Growing a Great Business". As a partner of a small business, I was able to take away invaluable information that will, in turn, help me be a better leader within my organization, help me grow my business and in turn help the community of New Berlin grow. I appreciate the opportunity and I look forward to participating in future events.

  • Accountability is one of the main reasons I hired Jim Palzewicz as my business coach. I’ve asked Jim to hold me accountable, and he’s been very good at that. I’ve noticed him ratchet that up, as we work for better results in the business… in order for that to happen, I need to be held more accountable, and I need to be holding my employees more accountable as well. As a result of all this, I start seeing things in a different light. I’m also holding Jim accountable to help me get the results I want out of my business.

  • "My company attained a certain level and was having a difficult time trying to break through the ceiling and get to the next level. EOS® helped me develop a leadership team that shares in the responsibilities and has allowed the company to get to the next level. By implementing EOS® I was able to get my leadership team involved in the decision-making process in the daily, weekly, quarterly and annual planning meetings.  They are accepting more tasks and are holding each other accountable.  This makes them all feel like they are more a part of the growing business and are more driven to continue to grow and improve the business.  This has also provided individual growth with their professional careers."

  • When I first walked into Rick Appleby's office in the end of February of 2014, it was because I had just had a business explosion and I was seeking more.  I told him the offerings I could bring to him, but before I left that meeting, I was the one wanting something from him. While my business of creating written and spoken content for books, educators, professionals, and others was doing very well, I was overwhelmed in the new success and on the well-paved road to a quick burnout.  I had been working approximately 70 hours per week and hadn't had a day off, with the exception of two days over which I was ill, since Christmas.  I'm one of those blessed people who is living that first childhood dream I ever had.  Not many people can say that and I don't take it for granted.  I always enjoyed writing and I managed to make a career out of it, creating stories for children, writing inspirational non-fiction with sporting legends, developing life-changing content with professional leaders, and back to my love of imaginative tales for pre-k to young adult readers.  By all definitions, I had "made it" in an  art field!  Despite this, I never celebrated.  I had this constant nagging realization that, 'this is not what I thought "dream-come-true" would feel like.' I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and at a point where I saw two roads.  One was filled with pain . . . go all in!  I may end up in debt and a sleepless wreck, but if I don't pay somebody to do (take your pick:  admin, marketing, sales, prospecting, pitching, etc.), then I can't keep going because I'm losing my mind.  (Or, just up the hours even more, go even longer without a break, and accept the loss of my mind!)  The second road was to take my career and turn it BACK into a hobby!  In other words, take all of this momentum (fifteen plus years' worth) I had taken to make it up to the cusp of enjoyable, fulfilling success and throw it away because it was a whole lot easier on the bottom of the hill. Rick showed me a third road.  He asked me, "Where do you want to be in your life (not just my business) ten years from now?"  I hadn't even thought about that in ages . . . I couldn't remember the last time my dream-job allowed any possibility for dreaming . . . for excitement . . . for celebration . . . for hope.  I was just always trying to land the next publishing contract, write the next book or program.  I was a hamster on a wheel and I could really go nowhere further than the amount of pain I was willing to put myself through to get there.  Plus, the focus was on money, alone, or each project as a step closer to a "big enough" project, and not on the purposes for which I had originally even begun writing. Not only did Rick help me to define what I really wanted to accomplish through my career—financially, with regard to freedom and quality of life, as a reflection of my values, and for my family—but he began to share the steps of how I could get there.  He taught me how to recapture the energy I once had for my creative endeavors while applying business logic and tools that, for once in this artist's life, I could understand and implement.  I joined ActionCOACH right away. Through bi-monthly and quarterly meetings, plus additional offered trainings that I choose, my calendar is balanced, my business is growing both quickly AND strongly, (and my sanity is still intact.)  In fact, my "work" has never been easier and my brand never more powerful.  Five months later, I've had a break; I've had many.  In fact, I work a healthy work-week, now.  I've just made my first hire.  I have more capital coming in than ever before and the pipeline is FULL.  I have strategically planned how I get off the hamster wheel and out of the cage.  Heck, I'm on my way to owning the whole hamster store chain!  Every time I get excited about growing part of my business, Rick shows me other parts I can also grow!  Coaching with Rick Appleby of ActionCOACH has been TRANSFORMATIONAL to my business, career, and LIFE!  I am truly grateful for coaching and Rick as they have put the dream back in dream job. • I want to thank Cortney for being my coach. In the past three months she has provided me with some of the business basics that I should have been utilizing.  Time management, cash flow, financials, pricing, social media, projections, and many others, I will continue to improve on all the mentioned. I will definitely recommend ActionCOACH to any new business that I run across.  Plus, I will highly recommend Cortney as the person to work with.  Thank you again, and I will never forget how you helped me.
